St Josephine Bakhita is Year 2’s class saint.
Born in Sudan, she endured great suffering yet chose forgiveness, faith and love. As a Canossian sister, she lived a life of humility and service, caring for others with gentleness and joy.
We celebrate her feast day on 8 February, remembering her powerful witness to dignity, compassion and hope.

We had 5 children representing our school at the final cross county event of the season this morning. A huge well done to our Year Five boys team (and the Year 6 child not captured here). It was a wet and tough event at Myton Fields but they gave up their Saturday morning and gave it their all. And of course, thank you to Mrs Anderson for giving up her Saturday morning and providing yet another sporting opportunity for our children

For our Candlemas homework project we saw: poems for Mums, posters for friends, lanterns for siblings, limericks for Grandparents , stained glass windows for Dads, candles for friends from previous schools. Whatever the medium, the take home message was that the children at St Augustine’s School are surrounded by people who light up their lives. We can’t wait to share the whole school display with you soon.

With Year 6 receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation later this month, the church display has had a little refresh this morning. It is a beautiful celebration of the children’s preparation and a reminder to our friends at The Catholic Parish of Kenilworth to keep our children in their prayers

🧮 Number day 🧮 don’t forget that St Augustine’s will be celebrating NSPCC number day this Friday (6th February). Children are invited to dress as a number/maths concept and participate in Maths themed activities throughout the day. Any voluntary cash donations can be made towards the NSPCC during the day.

❤️ To mark Valentine‘s day, and to show a little love to the PTFA fundraising pot, there will be two events next Friday (13th Feb) ❤️
1. Our children are invited to wear a splash of red/pink with their uniform. The PTFA will be collecting cash donations at the gates for this. £1 suggested donation
2. Valentine themed biscuits will be on sale after school. The perfect way to treat yourself, or a loved one at the end of the half term!

📚✨ A perfect Friday morning for Year 2! ✨📚
On Friday, Year 2 visited the library as part of the National Year of Reading for Pleasure. The children were impeccably behaved and threw themselves into a range of exciting activities, including book hunts, designing their own book covers and bookmarks, and – most importantly – spending time reading for pleasure.
What a joyful way to celebrate books and a love of reading. A lovely Friday morning for everyone! 💛📖
