Dear St Augustine's community,
Welcome back to a new school year and a new academy trust! We are excited to now be a member of the St Raphael the Archangel CMAT and we look forward to the collaborative opportunities this will provide in the future. As we have only been in school for two short days this week, there will not be a weekly newsletter. However, there is already so much to celebrate. Our Reception children have transitioned beautifully into school life and it has been wonderful to see our older children reconnecting with their friends and teachers after the summer break.
Please find attached our Autumn Term Key Dates document. I wanted to share this with you early in the term to ensure you have plenty of notice for upcoming school events. Please note that the sporting fixtures have not been set yet, we will send an amended version once we have these.
In particular, I would like to highlight the following which are all happening next week:
Meet the Teacher sessions next week. Each teacher will be in the classroom for a 30 minute session, sharing classroom routines, timetables and answering any of your questions. If you are attending, a member of staff will supervise any children who remain on site.
PTFA Meeting on Tuesday 8th September at 7:30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Whole School Mass on Friday 11th September at 9:00am in the school hall. All are welcome to join us.
Thank you for your continued support and your patience while we overcome some teething problems with IT whilst we transition to new CMAT systems. We are looking forward to a happy and successful term ahead.

As they get to grips with their new classes and the routines, the children have been learning all about their new class saints. Thank you to those children who engaged with the summer homework challenge too, we had posters and PowerPoints from ks2, and some beautiful pictures and fact files in ks1…one of our new Reception starters even put their woodwork skills to the test creating a cross inspired by St Jospeh.

The teachers are back in school today making sure we are ready for the return to school on Thursday. It looks like our children have been busy over the summer break. Check out this Year 2 child competing in his first triathlon and meeting the Birmingham Mayor to mark the occasion. Our children and families may be enjoying the first Monday of the holidays, but St Augustine’s is still very busy. The KS2 toilet refurb has begun (thank you Our Lady of The Magnificat Multi-Academy) and we have cleared out so many cupboards we’ve filled one skip! 🥇We are a “Safe and Active School” 🥇 Earlier this month we were delighted to hear that we have been awarded the Gold Safe and Active School award. Unfortunately we were unable to attend the award ceremony at Shire Hall, but a representative delivered the award yesterday and Year 6 received it on the whole school’s behalf.

This half term, students from across the soon to be St Raphael the Archangel CMAT have explored St Raphael and created artwork inspired by him.
Together, over 500 individual pieces have been combined into one beautiful mosaic, symbolising the collaboration and shared vision of our growing family of schools.
From September 2026, our CMAT will bring together 29 schools, which is then expanding to 67 schools in September 2027. We look forward to this exciting new chapter together and further collaboration.
