Animals have been a bit of a theme in school recently. To add to the excitement, a nest has been made inside one of the traffic cones outside the reception classroom. Eggs have been laid in the nest and we are hoping we will see some fledglings in the coming weeks. To protect the nest and the birds we have had to cordon off the climbing frame in KS1.

Reception have loved finding out about 3D shapes in their maths learning this week. They have been naming the shapes, using mathematical language to talk about the shapes, finding 2D shapes within the shape and carrying out lots of practical activities to further their learning, including a shape hunt around school!

A group of our Year 6 pupils joined the other primary schools in Kenilworth to attend a Digital Leaders Summit at St Nicholas School. The children created resources for schools to learn about the Kenilworth smartphone free initiative. They worked on podcasts, assemblies, street art, leaflets and comic strips. Radio Abbey even came along to interview the children - have a listen out for them!

This afternoon, our Year Six children are talking to the rest of the school about the digital leaders conference they attended at St Nick's School this morning. They will also be inviting children from across the school to enter this town wide poster competition. Entries to be handed in to class teachers by Monday 4th May

St. Augustine’s Year 6 Team: A Season Finale to Remember!
What a fantastic result for our Year 6 team yesterday! Supported by a talented group of Year 5 players, the team demonstrated true grit and determination in a closely fought match.
Despite trailing for the majority of the game, our players never gave up. Through exceptional collaboration and unwavering team support, they staged a brilliant comeback to secure a 5-4 victory.
This win is a testament to the hard work and dedication the team has shown throughout the year. If this marks the final game for our Year 6 squad, it was truly the perfect way to sign off on a successful season.
A huge well done to everyone involved — Year 6 should all be incredibly proud of their achievements!

The children in Year 5 took part in a drama workshop at Kenilworth School as part of the new Smartphone Initiative. They learnt about the impact of social media on their mental and physical health and the importance of talking to a trusted adult if they felt uncomfortable about something they had seen or read online. The workshop taught the children about the difference between ‘disinformation’ and ‘misinformation’ and they were encouraged to question online content using the ‘Who, What, Why?’ strategy if they saw something that shocked or scared them.
